CAIRO: Two leaders of an Egyptian children’s gang were sentenced to death yesterday for raping and killing at least three, and possibly up to 26, street children in Cairo and northern Egypt, a judicial source said.
Five other gang members were given prison terms.
The court in the Nile Delta town of Tanta referred the condemned men’s paperwork to the mufti, the government-appointed interpreter of Islamic law, for approval of the death sentences, generally a formality.
The court will hold a session on July 20 when it is expected to confirm the sentences on Ramadan Abdel Rahman Mansur and Farag Mahmoud Hanata, who are both in their twenties.
Police found three bodies. During questioning the men said they had disposed of bodies by throwing them off moving trains, stuffing them down drains or throwing them in the River Nile, police said.
Several children gave testimony in court. One child said he was sexually assaulted and then thrown off a moving train, but survived.
Egypt has tens of thousands of street children living on the margins of society but reports are rare of them committing serious crimes of violence. – Reuters

i was rushing to try and finish lincoln but i only annotated half of  it D: hopefully zaidi won’t give me an F. I annotated the crap out of his speech though. You could hardly read it under my highlightings.

i messed up in math analysis today. i wasn’t paying attention and then gave an example of a problem only to be wrong D: but mrs. crew likes me because i read the syllabus yesterday and gave me participation points anyway. then she asked another question which ronnie answered, but she didn’t hear him. so i said it and she was so happy that someone answered but then i said ronnie said it first so she was like ‘oh, haha’ and gave him points. she’s a psycho, honestly, and i think she thinks that we’re afraid of her, but we’re really just boring people who don’t say anything.

godwin and ronnie told me what to study for for the apush test, so that was good to know. i fell asleep in japanese many many times and almost fell out of my chair. it’s funny to see someone doze off but sucks when it’s you. i forgot a ton of japanese, i need to start practicing again D:

so at lunch i found stephanie and vania! and it was so exciting to actually meet and talk to each other. vania kept giggling and squealing and bouncing up and down, the little psycho. we just chatted about aps and how weird it was to actually be talking to each other. stephanie sang at last by etta james per my request and it was quite lovely. i wish i could sing like her. then we parted ways, and i could hear them both squealing as i left.

visited ms cordero for a little while. it was a little awkward because i didn’t know what to talk about, but we chatted about her students and my classes. it was fun. then i went out to lunch and studied with michelle fry for the apush test until the lunch bell rang.
